Using Mug, you could distribute medias to smartphone users in a specific location through a simple way.
Mug consists of
1. Mug client, simple media browser
2. Web service provides media lists(list of URL links to media) to Mug client
3. Host program provides media lists and media files to Mug client in a local network.
In real world, two options are available to media distribute as following :
Registering media list on the web service
- If you sign in this site, there is an available menu that enables to register media list. In that menu, you could pick a specific location that will be linked to your media list on the map, and then submit your media list to this site.
- As a registration done, if a user runs Mug, Mug will search for media lists that meet to the user's location and show them to the user.
- Now the user can browse medias - done!
Distributing media files Within local network
- A provider could distribute medias by using host program(is called 'Sam'). It's easy to use - just put media files into the host program's content folder, and run it.
- Running host program, it will create media list automatically, and start to broadcast it to local network. (usually, this network would be wireless network)
- If a user runs Mug client with a device connected to local network, Mug client receives broadcasted media lists, and show them to a user.
- Now a user can browse medias, and download them to see from Sam - done!
Okay, let's review :
Mug and its host(Raindrop and Sam) are, for content creators and providers, distribution tools that one can serve media or services that linked to specific location.
Basically, Mug host provides links to media such like images, video, audio and web pages described as URL. And these links are called 'media list' in Mug system.
Once you set up Mug host, users could browse your contents with Mug program.
